Tokyo

After Beijing I was in Tokyo… and it was a HUGE contrast.

I forgot how beautiful Tokyo was. I was visiting galleries, visiting art institutions, meeting artists, making some photographs and interventions… It was a really interesting week; Japanese culture is extremely sophisticated and beautiful.

Tokyo projects the idea of a perfect society, everything is exceptionally organized and aesthetic but, honestly I missed some passion. (I’m Spanish…)

Anyway, Tokyo is a great place to make a trip and enjoy art, architecture, fashion, food and design. But I learn that beauty is expensive, and I’m not only talking about money but freedom.

CHINA

I just come back from Beijing, I spend there one week and I do not know what to think about China…

I’m still processing the information, but I can say that my first impression of China is: Red, huge, fake, strong, deep & superficial, ostentatious, a grey living theatre, full of Chinese (80% of them spitting at the same time), extremely capitalistic, totally contradictory, chaotic, exciting, full of Art, beautiful and ugly at the same time, magnetic, impressive and disappointing, the land of individual freedom and social distrust, a set of masks, passionate and sad, packed of kind & lovely thieves, and the biggest advertising company I ever seen…

I do not want to influence that perception with images because it is impossible to described the smell, the noise, the movement, the interactions, the people, the proportions, the feelings, the thoughts and experiences, so that post don’t have pictures.
